What You’ll Do

As our Assistant Head Electrician, you’ll play a pivotal role in executing and maintaining the lighting infrastructure that powers the visual storytelling of our live events. From Broadway-style touring productions to community presentations, concerts, and dance performances, your work will help deliver exceptional, safe, and seamless productions across all GCA venues.

Lighting Operations

  • Lead the setup, programming, operation, and strike of lighting systems for a wide range of live events
  • Design and implement lighting plots tailored to artistic vision and technical requirements
  • Hang, circuit, focus, and troubleshoot conventional and intelligent lighting systems
  • Operate lighting consoles and solve issues in real-time during rehearsals and performances

Crew Supervision & Safety

  • Train, supervise, and mentor stage crew and technical staff to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professional development, and best practices
  • Serve as Stage Supervisor when designated

Maintenance & Inventory

  • Oversee repairs, maintenance, and upgrades of all lighting equipment and infrastructure
  • Maintain lighting inventory and coordinate regular equipment audits
  • Support general venue maintenance and uphold safety compliance

Production Support

  • Advance lighting and power needs with incoming productions and tours
  • Support load-ins/load-outs and assist with AV and rigging setups when necessary
  • Collaborate closely with visiting crews and internal staff to ensure smooth operations

Administrative & Organizational Duties

  • Advise management on infrastructure and equipment improvements
  • Participate in professional development and stay current with industry standards
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for GCA, projecting professionalism both onsite and in the community

What You Bring?

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Theatre, Theatre Production, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in theatrical lighting and production
  • Proficiency with digital lighting consoles (ETC preferred), intelligent fixtures, and industry-standard gear
  • Experience designing and executing lighting plots and managing real-time production cues
  • Strong supervisory and crew training experience

Preferred:

  • Experience in multi-venue performing arts centers or roadhouse-style venues
  • Familiarity with stage rigging systems and AV integration

Technical & Interpersonal Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of theatrical lighting principles, systems, and schematics
  • Ability to interpret and implement technical drawings and cue sheets
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning

  • Competitive Pay and Benefits – This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an hourly pay range of $24.50 to $27.50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
