Since the Gallo Center began presenting comedy in 2009, starting off with Dana Carvey, numerous major name comedians have performed here—almost all selling out. This season will bring great comedy shows including Patton Oswalt; Bill Engvall; Whose Live Anyway?; Anita Renfroe; Michael Jr; The Southern Fried Chicks; The San Francisco Comedy Competition; Henry Cho; Sacramento’s Stephen B, plus comics with a local flavor: Marcella Arguello and Anthony K!

Dance

Dance lovers will love this season's events. Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding emerging choreographers. Ballet Folklórico de México is returning to the Center, bringing together the music, dance and costumes of Mexican folklore from pre-Colombian civilizations through the modern era. You can experience some of the most thrilling dancers in the world—not to mention the exciting performances from Modesto’s own Central West Ballet!

The robust Latino population in the San Joaquin Valley exerts a powerful influence on the Gallo Center for the Arts. From the greatest mariachi bands in the world, to the color and pageantry of the finest ballet folklórico companies, we’re proud to present them! "El Rey del Acordeon” (The Accordion King) Ramon Ayala is returning to the Center season. Also coming are the double bill of The Villalobos Brothers and the Mariachi Las Reyna de Los Angeles; Mexico's leading alternative rock band; Cafe Tacvba; Mariachi Herencia de México; the Latin Grammy Award-nominated Banda Machas, and more!

Holiday events include concerts with the chart-topping band 98° (here at the Center for a 98° At Christmas!), plus The Doo Wop Project: From Bop to Pop...For The Holidays, and the return of Dave Koz & Friends with his 2018 Christmas tour. Also coming are NOËL, a brand new holiday family musical; Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: The Musical; the always magical Opus Handbell Ensemble, and A Very Choral Christmas featuring ten local choirs performing beloved holiday favorites!

Theatre & Speakers

The Gallo Center is proud to offer an incredible variety of theatre plays and spoken word entertainment. This season the Gallo Center Repertory Company returns with four theatrical productions: Stand and Deliver, Steel Magnolias, Tiny Tim's Christmas Carol and Tuesdays with Morrie. The Center also proudly presents two events from National Geographic Live’s touring speaker series: Point of No Return with Hilaree O’Neill, and Sprinosaurus: Lost Giant of the Cretaceous with Nizar Ibrahim. The original first lady of Rock ‘n Roll is in the building with “Elvis & Me: Priscilla Presley.” The original host of the “Dog Whisperer,” Cesar Millan, is coming too, along with Susan Marie Frontczak as Erma Bombeck, and We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
